E3 2013 Day -1

Plenty of stuff starts trickling out the week prior to E3. Here's the roundup so far:

  • In my review of Metal Gear Rising I called the game a "badass simulator" and concluded "I doubt I'll have more pure fun with a video game this year." Looks like I might have to eat those words.

  • Sonic Lost World is looking like a fantastic combination of all the best parts from Sonic's history. It's coming this year exclusively to the Wii U and 3DS, with each version having different stage layouts and exclusive features. Wii U version below, 3DS gameplay here.

  • You never asked for the newest Deus Ex game, The Fall, coming to iOS devices. I'm not sure why developers insist on putting out console-quality games on machines with no buttons.

  • The latest Ninja Gaiden is Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z which is being developed by Ninja Theory, Spark Unlimited, and Keiji Inafune's Comcept, with music by Rare vetaren Grant Kirkhope. It's a weird mishmash of developers, but the game looks pretty promising. You play as a zombie ninja who was killed by Ryu and is out for revenge.

  • Microsoft has announced a 10th anniversary remake of the original Fable! It's getting a complete overhaul like Halo and will be out a year early and on the Xbox 360 for some reason. Great game to have coming out when you're new, not backwards compatible console is releasing.

  • Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 is looking fantastic. The music gives me eargasms.
